Suzanne Simons

I have inherited and acquired so much privilege in my life—based on race, education, nationality, class, sexual orientation. Ironically, the heart of my upbringing conflicts with the ease of that privilege—the unwavering principles that everyone deserves a fair shake in this world; that those who are most distant from fairness deserve additional access and support; that systems and people have the obligation and responsibility to ensure that equity is guaranteed. The fire ignited by my experiences with race and privilege drives my work to ensure that my principles manifest for everyone. What my children have, every child deserves. Bottom line.
