Cindy Baumert
I am compelled to do racial equity and social justice work because I have experienced and observed inequitable and racist systems that have devastating consequences for individuals, families, and communities across many generations. These consequences impact family well-being and student academic outcomes and cut across multiple domains of health, education, justice, government, economic opportunity, infrastructure, and neighborhoods. While we were born into these racist systems, we are doomed to perpetuate them unless we practice constant critical reflection and action both individually and collectively. It is our moral obligation to disrupt these systems through this work.
