Ryan Mandado

Racial equity and social justice work is important because I’m responsible for educating the future leaders of Hawai‘i—Native Hawaiian students. As an Asian-American man, I need to show up as a strong ally for Native Hawaiians and ensure my leadership is grounded in providing my Indigenous students the agency to empower themselves, their families, and their communities. Native students make up most of Hawai‘i’s public school system which means all of the decisions I make need to hold an Indigenous lens first so our students can thrive.
