Inequity shows up in our human nature to gravitate toward what is easy. Good ideas mean good work. Racial equity and social justice require high levels of consistent intentionality. And we get tired, which means we drift. We rest on systems that are grounded in the white dominant culture. We give in to old ways of being, learned behavior that misleads us, but meets an immediate need. I am compelled to the work for racial equity and social justice because I am called to build leaders — family leaders specifically. Authentic family partnership in any system is an equity strategy.
