Aja Clark

Aja currently serves as Interim Branch Manager at DC Public Library (DCPL), stepping away from her role as Assistant manager for Reading Porgrams. Aja, a proud Jersey girl, relocated to the Washington DC metropolitan area to support education policy initiatives with the Office of State Superintendent of Education. An educator for over fifteen years, Aja has been involved in mentoring activities that promote literacy for young adults and reluctant readers. Her work includes creating the all-boys book club, Man Up and Read, and acting as an advisor to Sisters Training for Life (STFL), a group for young women to identify goals and build healthy relationships. She continued her public service work by joining the Trans formative Tech DC Chapter as a volunteer then later as an officer helping organize presenters to speak about AI in Healthcare and Machine Technology. Her professional work in education includes creating public accessibility to state education policies, updating policy to reflect 21st education goals and developing relationships with various institutions such as The Smithsonian and The National Children’s Museum to create opportunities throughout the city for access to literacy. When able, Aja co-hosts a DC Public Library radio show, Get Lit, as well as facilitates various programs such as Words After Art a book talk that joins portraits with various books inspired by the art. Aja holds a BA in English Literature from Rutgers University and a MEd in Educational Leadership from Wilmington University. An enthusiastic lover of music and culture, in her spare time Aja enjoys concerts as well as domestic and international travel.
