Chioma Oruh

Chioma Oruh is the Health Equity Project Director for Advocates for Justice and Education. As Co-Project Director, she serves as principal investigator, leading the project implementation and activities. She is a public policy expert on special education, infant and maternal healthcare systems, children and youth behavioral health systems of care, and the Washington, DC, insurance landscape for children and youth with special health care needs. She is also a voting member of the DC Medical Care Advisory Council with the DC Department of Healthcare Finance, the Coordinating Council for School-based Behavioral Health Services with the DC Department of Behavioral Health, the Family Support Council with the DC Department on Disability Services, and serves on the Board of Directors of Kids Included Together, a nonprofit organization based on San Diego, California that support organizations creating sustaining and supportive inclusive practices for children and youth around the country and on US military bases around the world. Dr. Oruh is a proud first-generation Washingtonian and Nigerian-American who identifies as neurodivergent and is the mother of her two brilliantly autistic sons.
