Imani Josie
Imani Josie is daughter of two immigrant parents from Saint Lucia and the eldest child of three. She attended public school in Connecticut for K-8 and attended Sacred Heart Academy, a private all girl high school in Hamden, CT. Imani earned her bachelor’s degree from Western Connecticut State University and her masters in education from Albertus Magnus College. During undergrad Imani interned in Washington DC for Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro and it was during this internship she fell in love with education and college access. During her masters program Imani worked for a non-profit college access program before moving to Spain to teach English abroad. Imani returned from Spain in 2019 and began teaching at a local high school in New Haven, CT and then became a College Counselor. She moved to DC in 2021 and is now the Director of College and Career Counseling at KIPP DC. Imani finds joy in supporting young adults dream and think of their futures, because “too often we have not been allowed to dream.”
