Joy is a philanthropic strategist, entrepreneur, and change agent with a passion for closing the wealth gap in black and brown communities. With over 15 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, she has inspired individuals and institutions to invest more than $20 million in charitable causes in education, medicine, and higher education. Joy currently is the Chief Strategy and Growth Officer at Academy of Hope Adult PCS - a workforce development and adult education school for adult learners seeking viable pathways toward economic mobility. In this role, she leads strategy, philanthropy, communications, and advocacy. Prior to this role, she advanced philanthropy as Director of Development at the Johns Hopkins Medicine's Sibley Memorial Hospital Foundation, and Director of Development at GW Medicine. In both roles, she built out the grateful patient fundraising programs for the Cardiology, Surgery, Urology, and Internal Medicine departments. She has also held roles at Johns Hopkins University and the American Cancer Society. As an executive coach and consultant, Joy also supports nonprofit leaders in developing revenue strategies that accelerate their mission. She has coached grantees of the JLH Fund, Zoom Cares, Kataly, and Okta Foundations on philanthropy, fundraising, and leadership development. Joy holds a Master's in Public Administration with a concentration in nonprofit management from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Temple University. Joy lives in Washington, DC with her husband and two children.
