Maia A. Blankenship is a changemaker and equity advocate who works in public education to ensure that educators are valued, supported, and empowered to create vibrant learning environments for students. She currently serves as a Partner for Wildflower Schools and is charged with building out a regional hub of one-room, shopfront Montessori schools in the District of Columbia, led by their teachers and connected to community, in which children, families and teachers follow life’s unfolding journey.

Formerly Maia served as the Vice President of Strategic Growth & Partnerships at Achievement Network (ANet) where she established national and regional partnerships that would lead to student impact and sustained instructional support and development in schools systems. Prior to that she served four years as the Executive Director for the DC and MD team expanding the reach of the region to Baltimore serving more than 200 schools.

Maia brings more than 15 years of experience with strategic planning, talent strategy, process improvement and organizational design to the education sector. Maia also serves as an advisor to the Equity Design Collaborative, which is a think and do tank that co-creates and shares the toolkits, experiences, and acumen to accelerate the design of equitable relationships and organizations. Maia earned a Bachelor of Science from Spelman College and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her passion is to create a more inclusive and more equitable world by empowering leaders to understand and leverage the strengths and talents of communities and our most valuable resource — people, especially the most disenfranchised. She is the proud mom of an independent and adventurous toddler that is two years old.
