Stories have the power to transform individuals and cultures. If the stories in our books and on our stages exclude the nuance and complexity of the multicultural world, they are failing to honor our shared humanity. I believe that the acts of creating and witnessing bold artistic experiences can be restorative and exhilarating. That energy can be harnessed to transform communities, and I am committed to reinforcing channels for those stories to be amplified, shared, and honored.
