Claire Boogard

I am a General Pediatrician working at Children's Health Center at THEARC- an academic community clinic in Southeast, Washington, DC. My father and mother were both in medical fields, which kept our family moving around the country about every 5 years while growing up (Chicago, Utah, Mississippi, Michigan). After graduating high school in Michigan, I went to Boston College where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a premedical focus with the goal of becoming a physician. After a year working at a Boston academic hospital as a research assistant, I moved to Chicago to study at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine where I received her MD and Master's in Public Health in 2011. From there my personal life brought me to Washington, DC where I went on to complete my pediatric internship, residency, and chief residency at Children's National Hospital. In 2015, I joined Children's Health Center at THEARC as an academic pediatrician with interest in combating social determinants of health and strengthening family resiliency. I have held various leadership roles at our clinic in management and medical education, now most notably coordinating our Resident and Fellow education and being the Healthy Steps physician champion, which aims to support young families with developmental concerns, maternal depression, and social stressors.
