Ingrid Zimmer
Born and raised in Washington, DC, Ms. Zimmer has dedicated her career to advocating for arts in education for DC’s most under-served children. On the vanguard of learning through the arts and trained by the Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning, Ingrid is a master teaching artist, and arts administrator who has brought arts integration to schools serving low-income neighborhoods for the last two decades. In 1994, Ms. Zimmer started at Inner City – Inner Child (ICIC) as a teaching artist. After more 20 years of commitment to ICIC’s innovative programs, as Executive Director, she continues to oversee and develop arts-rich programming that promotes equal access to high quality early childhood education and trains educators to prepare their students to become motivated and successful learners. Recognized as a thought leader in arts integration, Ms. Zimmer has presented at international and national education conferences, including at the Kennedy Center, the National Gallery of Art, Harvard University’s Project Zero, Virginia Association for the Education of Young Children, and Amsterdam International School.
