Mary Ann Stinson
Mary Ann Stinson began her career in the District of Columbia Public Schools in 2010, as the principal of Truesdell Education Campus. Eight years later, she is still committed to the school’s vision of transforming students to become the leaders of tomorrow and to empower them to fundamentally disrupt the institutions of systemic racism, in their school, community, city and country. The school proactively and intentionally prepares students to identify, analyze and overcome the aggressions they will inevitably encounter in their journey to become social disruptors and agents of change. Ms. Stinson attributes the school’s success to the strong collaboration and teamwork of the entire Truesdell family. Currently, Ms. Stinson is the Instructional Superintendent for Cluster 2, in southeast DC. Ms. Stinson is a two time Rubenstein Award winner for leadership and under her leadership. Truesdell Education Campus received the Standing Ovation Award for Innovation in Education and the Academic Leadership Team Standing Ovation Award. She holds a Master’s in Administration and Supervision from Virginia Commonwealth University, is a member of the first DCPS Georgetown McDonough School of Business Executive Master’s of Leadership Cohort and has since earned an Ed Specialist degree in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Populations from The George Washington University; and is currently working on her doctorate from the same institution. Prior to her work in DCPS, Ms. Stinson taught and was a school leader in Richmond Public Schools. She is also the very proud parent of three children.
