Yvonne Doerre
Currently Emergency Department Social Worker and Coordinator of the Youth Violence Intervention Program at Children’s National Hospital, I moved to Washington DC at the age of 24, with a brand new MSW and my sights on a career in federal policy and advocacy. After three years on The Hill, I took an unexpected detour as a frontline social worker at CFSA and I've been focused on the children and families of the District ever since. I've worked for and with nearly every child serving system in DC; CFSA, DBH, DCPS, OSSE, DYRS and the Community Collaboratives, in addition to Children's National Hospital. I've held a variety of roles and though I enjoy program development and implementation; I don't like to be too removed from direct care with families. Parents and children have provided the majority of my lessons over the past 25 years and I need their input to keep my work relevant and improving.
