Dara Johnson

Dara Johnson is a Program Officer at the Horning Family Fund, where she manages the grantmaking portfolio and assists with the development and implementation of the foundation’s racial equity strategy, family engagement plan, and other initiatives. Before joining the foundation in 2015, Dara spent 14 years in K-12 education serving in three public school systems (Dekalb County, Atlanta and Washington DC) as a teacher, literacy coach, professional development trainer, and assistant principal. Along with her passion for education, Dara loves music and working with others. In her spare time if she’s not singing with her church’s choir, ensemble, or praise team; you can find her volunteering at Calvary Women’s Services, Horton’s Kids or with the Little Lights Choir. Dara received her undergraduate degree in child development/elementary education from Spelman College (Atlanta, GA) and a Master’s in School Administration from Cambridge College (Cambridge, MA).
