Míchelle Johnson

Míchelle is excited to continue at Mundo Verde in a new leadership role as Principal, after one year as an assistant principal and two years as a master lead teacher. She has five years of teaching experience. She is a certified elementary teacher in the state of Illinois and has previously taught 2nd grade and kindergarten, and spent the last three years working at a STEM magnet elementary school, which focused on inquiry-based learning and empowering students to think critically. Míchelle enjoys cooking and reading, and is passionate about the integration of social-emotional learning and academic content to serve the whole child. Originally from Champaign, Illinois, Michelle has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and Spanish from Illinois State University. She has also studied in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic.
